This article explains how to add members to a project and remove them. It also describes the available member types (Viewer, Editor, and Site Administrator), which roles are permitted to manage members, and how access to all projects in an organization is controlled.
Permissions
| Task | Viewer | Editor | Site Admin | Org Admin |
| Add a user | ✓ | ✓ | ||
| Delete a user* | ✓ | ✓ |
* Site administrators, editors, and users with viewer privileges can be deleted. However, organization administrators cannot delete other organization administrators. Also, site administrators cannot delete other site administrators.
There are a few ways to add new members to your project. The first is by selecting the "Members" helmet icon in the bottom left of the screen when viewing a capture. A new window will open where you can enter the member's email address and select "Invite" .
From here, enter your new member's email address and select the member type. There are currently three types of members:
- Viewer- Can only view captures and field notes.
- Editor- Can view or add captures and field notes.
- Site Administrator- The highest level of member can view or add captures and field notes, and also add/remove members.
The second option for adding members is available on your organization's homepage. Above the cover photo image on the project card, there is an "Add members" button. Once you select this, you can enter the email address of the person you want to add, select their permissions, and click Invite.
To remove a member, click on "Members" (the helmet icon) in the bottom left. Select the role for the member you want to remove. Use the dropdown to select "Remove from Site" and you're done!
FAQ
How can I gain access to all projects, including those I haven't been given access to?
Access to all projects is controlled by roles and permissions. Only Organization Administrators are automatically added to each site in the organization and can manage users and settings. To gain access to all projects, you'll need an existing Org Admin to promote you to Organization Administrator using the Admin → Team Management tools.
