Overview
With Saved Views, you can bookmark saved locations in BIM Compare, including BIM model visibility states (e.g., hide all ceilings and save this state) and BIM overlay elements. Saved Views functionality is available in BIM Compare on web and in our mobile app.
BIM Compare makes BIM data more accessible to field users via our OpenSpace Capture navigation. Saved Views takes that field accessibility up a notch by making it easy to save, find, and share BIM Compare views by anyone on the project—VDC managers and field users alike.
A Saved View consists of location, view direction, and hidden/visibility overrides for BIM elements. You can also create a Saved View with overlayed elements using BIM Element Overlay.

FAQs
When a new model is imported, do the Saved Views on previous models transfer/remain in the platform?
If a user sets up a Saved View with BIM element visibility overrides, and later uploads a new version of the same model, whether or not those BIM element overrides are still present in the Saved View on re-upload depends, based on source file format and what changes the user has made in that source file between the prior upload and the new upload.
More details:
- If the coordinate system has not been changed between version uploads, Saved View locations will be stable across new version uploads for all supported source file types (RVT, IFC, NWC, NWD, DWG, etc.).
- Saved View BIM visibility states will be stable across new version uploads for RVT files and most IFC files. Saved View BIM element visibility states will not be stable across new version uploads for other file types, including NWD and NWC, with some exceptions:
- If you hide entire models using the Multiple Models dropdown when creating the Saved View, those entire model visibility states will be stable across new version uploads.
- Individual elements selected and hidden, or models hidden using the model browser (rather than the Multiple Models dropdown), will not be stable across new version uploads for non-RVT/IFC files. The reason for this lack of stability is because most federated and cache file formats, like NWD and NWC, do not retain stable element IDs. Because the element IDs are not stable across new version uploads, those hidden elements cannot be identified by the system using a stable ID, so the element visibility states cannot be retained in the new version.
Is there a limit to how many Saved Views we can create?
No.
Are Saved Views accessible on the OpenSpace mobile app?
Yes, you can access Saved Views in BIM Compare in our mobile app. Saved Views are coming soon to the mobile BIM viewer with offline mode.
