Greenfield Project Deployment Tips

Overview

A greenfield project in construction means building a brand new facility from the ground up on untouched, undeveloped land. OpenSpace can document a greenfield jobsite throughout construction, but the lack of vertical structures can cause mapping issues for 360° captures. This article explains how to set up and capture a project before vertical construction begins.

Set up your OpenSpace project

1. Confirm project details. Confirm the GPS coordinates for your project are accurate.
2. Upload sheets. You have two options:
   • Option 1: Use a combined site plan, utility plan, and foundation plan. It's typically easiest to combine these plans in Bluebeam and use the property boundary to align the sheets. Set stakes/markers in the site plan to indicate staked locations on-site (see Option 1 below in Capture the jobsite).
   • Option 2: If you’re flying drones, you can use the latest orthomosaic as the capture sheet. To use this option, email OpenSpace Support at support@openspace.ai and request the ability to capture on orthomosaics.
     • Please note: Once vertical construction starts on the project, it's best to use the architectural floorplans for capturing interior conditions of the building. Your OpenSpace team can slipsheet in a different drawing if you'd like to change the sheets when underground work is completed.
3. Request GPS registration of the site. Email OpenSpace Support at support@openspace.ai and request that your project be GPS registered.

Capture the jobsite

Option 1: Site plan with foundation plan, utility plan, and markers

1. Set stakes/markers in locations of interest around the jobsite, such as future utility structure locations and corners of the building pad.
2. Indicate the start/end location and locations of interest clearly on the site plan that's uploaded to OpenSpace.

3. While doing a 360° capture, start and end your captures in the indicated location and make sure to clearly capture the stakes/markers on-site.

   

Option 2: Capturing on the drone orthomosaic

1. When you upload your first drone flight and the orthomosaic has processed, the orthomosaic will show up as a sheet in OpenSpace.
2. Select the ortho sheet when capturing and walk or drive the site. The 360° capture will be mapped to the latest orthomosaic.
   • Please note: Previous 360° captures will also show up on the latest drone orthomosaic.
