Overview
With our drone overlay tool in OpenSpace Air, you can compare drone captures to existing conditions, designs, and plans to quickly assess progress, spot issues, and plan the next phase of work. OpenSpace Air makes it easy to accurately align common plan documents with your drone captures. Once an overlay document has been aligned, the overlay will be available on all existing and future orthomosaics.
Note: The overlay tool supports PDF, PNG, and JPG file types up to 2GBs.
How to upload a file to overlay
Click the arrow next to Overlays in the layers sidebar to go to the overlays list.
Select Add overlays or drag and drop the PDF documents you want to overlay.
If you’ve already uploaded files and want to upload more, click the + button in the top right of the overlays list.
How to align a drone capture and overlay image
The alignment tool follows a simple point registration workflow. You can register a third, optional point for increased accuracy.
Click Align overlay under the file you want to align.
Next select point A1 on the orthomosaic (left) and A2 on the plan document (right). Repeat for points B and C (optional).
To edit an existing point, click one of the A, B, or C buttons in the top menu. This will activate the points. When you click on the ortho or plan document the associated point will be moved.
Click Verify points in the top right corner. An overlay preview will be displayed on the ortho.
To adjust points, click Edit points.
If the alignment looks correct click Done.
Click Done to process the point registration.
Processing takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the overlay document and map area.
Tips
Registering three points should improve the accuracy of the alignment.
Zoom in before clicking a location.
Select points that are far from each other.
