Overview
In addition to drone mapping flight images, you may want to add additional images for detailed shots as well as videos and panoramas for team and client communication. When you add additional images, videos, and panos to drone captures in OpenSpace Air, OpenSpace automatically pins the media to the map whenever GPS metadata is available.

Uploading additional images
- Click the arrow next to Additional Images.
-
Next click the “+” icon to upload your additional images.
Uploading videos
OpenSpace reads the GPS embedded in your video to plot the flight path alongside the footage. When you upload, OpenSpace shows you what GPS data was found in the file, so you know what to expect.
Before you fly
- Mavic 3E (DJI Pilot 2): The Mavic 3E only records per-frame GPS when Video Caption is enabled:
- Open the camera view.
- Tap the settings gear (top-right of the camera controls).
- Find Video Caption (may show as Video Subtitles depending on firmware) and toggle it ON.
- Flying a different drone? Look for the equivalent caption / subtitles / GPS option in your flight app and enable it so per-frame GPS is recorded.
To upload
- Click the arrow next to Videos.
- Next click the "+" icon to upload your video.
Uploading drone panoramas
OpenSpace displays fully stitched 360° panoramas with their original metadata intact (projection info, GPS, and altitude).
Files that we do not support
OpenSpace does not stitch images for you, so two kinds of files won't upload:
- Individual frames. Some drones and flight apps save a pano as a set of separate photos and expect the hosting software to stitch them. These can't be uploaded.
- Stitched panos that have lost their metadata. Some apps stitch the 360° only inside the app, and saving that image to your phone's photo album strips out the metadata OpenSpace needs—so the upload is rejected. (This is the case for older DJI drones using DJI Go 4.)
Files we do support
You can upload a single, fully stitched 360° file with its metadata preserved. (For example, panos stitched by DroneDeploy upload successfully.)
To upload:
- Click the arrow next to Panos.
- Next click the "+" icon to upload your stitched 360° pano.
