Uploading your 360 Video capture - Desktop Sync App

Use the OpenSpace Sync app to automatically upload all of your data

Updated over a week ago

Please note that you can also upload captures directly from your phone, in addition to the instructions below for desktop upload. The Desktop Sync App upload is not available for OpenSpace Basic users. Upload your 360 video captures via Mobile Upload. Many users find mobile upload more convenient. If you have many captures to upload, captures longer than 10 minutes, or have spotty cell coverage please upload via the Desktop Sync App.

Step 1:

Download the OpenSpace Sync app for your region.

*Tip*: If you're unsure of your region, you can find this information by looking at the start of the URL you use to log into the OpenSpace web app:

*Note* we recommend always having the latest version of the Desktop Sync App updated before connecting your camera. To confirm if an update is required, select the three vertical dots while the app is open.

Step 2:
While the OpenSpace Sync app is open, plug your camera into your computer via the USB cable. Turn the camera on. The files should automatically start getting uploaded. The tray looks like this:

Step 3:
That's it! Once the progress bar completes, we've received all of your files and are processing your captures. You can typically expect your captures to be published within a couple of hours.

*Note* for Insta360 users, the camera will not mount if the USB port has a battery icon next to it! Please use another port if this is the case.

*Note* for the Insta360 cameras must be placed on desktop mode before they will connect to a PC. This can be done with these steps:
Insta360 ONE RS

  1. Turn on ONE RS.

  2. Swipe down to open the Shortcut menu. Swipe left and tap the settings icon, then [General] > [USB Mode] and finally, select [U-Disk Mode]

Insta360 One X2

  1. Turn Camera On (while NOT connected to a PC) > Swipe Down Once > Swipe Left Once > Tap the Gear Icon > Tap “General” > Tap “USB Mode” > Tap “Desktop Mode” (You made need to scroll up or down to see it).

  2. Video Link with instructions

    1. Starts at 0:08 and ends at 0:35 in this Insta360 support video.

*Note* for the Ricoh Theta Z1 cameras, 3.0 USB ports will work for this camera when connecting to the computer using the Desktop Sync App.
