Upload via Desktop Sync for Web

Prerequisites

  1. If you have the Desktop Sync App installed, you must uninstall it prior to using the web uploader.

Overview

If you’re familiar with Uploading your 360 Video Capture - Desktop Sync App, this web upload option offers an extra perk. With the Desktop Sync for Web, you don’t install an application. Instead, you can retrieve your video files with the camera plugged in or the SD card inserted in an SD card reader.

Tips for success:

  1. Disable sleep mode on your camera when uploading.

  2. If plugging the camera into the computer, do not disconnect until the upload is complete.

  3. If using an SD card reader, do not remove the SD card until the upload is complete.

  4. The upload process varies depending on your camera: Insta360 or Ricoh.

Upload using a Ricoh camera

  1. Turn the Ricoh camera on and connect the camera to the computer via a data transferring cable.

    • On Windows, the camera will show up as a drive.

    • On a Mac, you can open Image Capture.

  2. Create a folder on your desktop to hold the capture files.

    • Tip: Give your folder a unique name like openspace_uploads_jan_1_2024. This is where you’ll upload from.

  3. Drag and drop the files into the folder you just created.

    • Tip: If you’re unsure what files to select, you can sort by date. If you want to upload captures from this week, select the files created in the last week by viewing by date.

  4. Launch OpenSpace and navigate to your project.

  5. Click the “Captures” icon on the left of your screen.

  6. Select the upload icon in the upper right corner.

  7. Either drag and drop the files from your folder or click “Upload” and select the files from your folder.

  8. Click “Start Upload.”

  9. Do not close this window until the upload is complete.

  10. When the upload is done, the “Status” column changes to “Uploaded” and the blue button changes to “Done.”

  11. Click “Done.”

    • Tip: If you’re unsure what files to select, you can sort by date. If you want to upload captures from this week, select the files created in the last week by viewing by date. Also, note that Insta360 video files will have two files per singular capture.

  5. Click “Start Upload.”

  6. Do not close this window until the upload is complete.

  7. When the upload is complete, the “Status” column changes to “Uploaded” and the blue button changes to “Done.”

  8. Click “Done.”

    • Click on “Not Recognized” to get detailed information on why the capture file is not recognized. Please reach out to the Support team for further assistance.

  3. What if the file Status says “Not Needed”?

    • If you get this Status, it means the file name has already been uploaded by another method, such as mobile upload.
