Overview
At times the manufacturer will release new firmware versions for the 360 cameras that are compatible with OpenSpace. It is crucial the camera remains on the latest version of firmware to ensure functionality of the camera.
For Insta360 Cameras
Mobile App
Temporarily download/install the Insta360 mobile application named, "Insta360" app onto your mobile device.
Turn on your camera.
Open the Insta360 App and follow the on-screen instructions to connect your camera to the application via wifi.
Within the Insta360 App, navigate to "Settings."
Scroll down to “Firmware Version.”
Select “Firmware Version” to start the firmware update process.
*Note: If you are able to click on "Firmware Version," then an update is needed. If this is not visible, then it is up to date and no update is needed.
Select the yellow button, "Start to Download," and wait for it to download completely.
Then, select the yellow button, "Upload Firmware File to Camera," and wait for it to download completely (on the camera, the touch screen will turn black and the light should be blue during this process).
The camera's firmware is now up-to-date!
**IMPORTANT** Please delete the Insta360 app from your mobile device (this can interfere with the functionality of the OpenSpace app).
Computer
Download the camera firmware via the Insta360 website.
Connect your camera to a computer via the official USB cable, now the computer can directly access files on the camera.
Copy the file (for example it may look like "Insta360OneRFW.bin" file for the One R camera) to your camera directly rather than other folders on your SD card.
Notice: Please make sure you have deleted the old firmware bin file (if still in the folder) and keep the file name of the newly downloaded firmware unchanged; otherwise the system might not be able to identify the latest firmware automatically, which will cause issues when updating.
Disconnect the camera from your computer and press the power button to turn on the camera.
The camera will check the firmware and update automatically, the indicator will flash blue during the update.
The camera will restart automatically after the update is completed.
You can check the current firmware version: Settings > Camera Info.
Tips
The camera's battery has more than 10% remaining.
Do not take out the battery or the SD card while updating.
Set the camera touchscreen to "Never Sleep" & keep the screen on during the firmware upgrade.
