Upload sheets

Edit sheets

Prerequisite

In order to upload sheets, you must first create a project.

Overview

Before you begin capturing, you need to upload your jobsite sheets to your project. The type of sheet you upload could impact your team’s capture experience. Please note the following to ensure best results:

  1. OpenSpace requires one sheet for every area that you would like to capture.

    • For example, you would not use a site plan sheet for ground floor captures—instead, you should also upload a sheet for a ground floor capture as well.

  2. Sheets should only contain one floor per sheet.

    • For example, a sheet should not contain the first and second floor.

  3. Architectural or construction sheets are best.

Note: If you would like to import sheets from Procore, refer to our Support article.

Uploading sheets to your project on web

  1. Access your newly created project.

  2. Select the gear icon from the project tile or the project home page to get to your project settings.

    • Project tile:

    • Home page:

  3. Click the Sheets tab.

    • The right side of the screen includes sheet tips.

  4. In the upper right corner, select the blue + Add sheets button.

  5. In the file explorer pop-up, select the sheet(s) and click open.

    • Supported file types are: PDF and PNG.

  6. Make your selection in the Select Sheets box for upload.

  7. Click Add Sheets.

  8. The sheet is now available in the Sheets listing for editing. If a capture, Field Note, or Zone has been associated to the sheet already, these edit icons would not be available:

    • Change sheet name: Click on the pencil icon to the right of the uploaded sheet and then click out of the edit box.

    • Crop the sheet: Click on the small sheet image and press the crop icon to select the cropped area. Then select Save in the bottom center.

    • Rotate the sheet: click the small sheet image and press the rotate button until you have the desired rotation. Then click Save.

    • Duplicate the sheet: Click the small sheet image and press the duplicate icon. The duplicate will have the same sheet name with “-1” appended for the first duplication. Select Save.

      • For example: If you duplicate sheet Level 5, the sheet will be named “Level 5-1.” If you duplicate the Level 5 sheet again, the sheet will be named “Level 5-2.” If you select Duplicate Sheet for Level 5-2, the duplicated sheet will be named “Level 5-2-1”—the numbering sequence will proceed each time Duplicate Sheet is used.

    • Trash the sheet: If you’ve uploaded the wrong sheet, press the trash can icon to delete it, followed by Save.

  9. If you don’t make any edits to the sheet, it will save automatically. If you do make any of the changes listed above, be sure to select the blue Save button as you go.

    • If you attempt to click on a tab in Project Settings, the system will prompt you to save.

Uploading sheets to your project on mobile

  1. Log in to the OpenSpace mobile app.

  2. Select the project you want to upload sheets to.

  3. Tap the Sheets icon.

  4. In the upper right hand corner, select Edit followed by Add.

  5. Your mobile device file system will populate to select the sheet.

  6. On mobile, this is the only time to edit the sheet name. After this, most edits such as sheet name will need to be done on the web.

  7. Select Upload sheet(s).

Editing existing sheets

The edit options available are dependent on the phase of the project and the data, if any, associated with the sheet(s).

Editing sheet names on web

  • This can be done at any phase of the project, no matter if there is existing data associated with the sheet.

Reordering sheets

  • If you need to change the order of your sheets throughout the project there are no restrictions and you can do it on mobile and web. Some teams move sheets around throughout a project—for example, if you’re focused on a specific zone for a week, you could put those sheets at the top of the list.

    • Mobile:

      • Select Sheets in the project view.

      • Tap Edit in the upper right corner.

      • Tap Change sheet order.

      • Hold down on the sheet to move it up or down the list.

    • Web:

      • Click the Sheets tab in Project Settings.

      • Click and hold your mouse down over the small sheet view.

      • Move the sheet up or down the list.

      • Select Save.

Replacing a sheet

  • If your sheet for Level 1 is outdated, for example, and you want to replace it with a new Level 1 sheet, do not upload the new sheet. Connect with the OpenSpace Support team to discuss if your sheets are a good option for a sheet replacement, which is actionable only by the Support team.

    • Note: If the new sheet is similar in layout to your current sheet, this is a good indicator we will be able to quickly replace the sheet.

Breaking up a sheet with multiple levels

  • If you need to break up an uploaded sheet because it contains drawings for two levels, such as Level 1 and Level 2, on the same sheet (which is invalid In OpenSpace since it could prohibit features from working, such as BIM model alignments), follow these steps:

    • Pause capturing.

    • Upload the sheet again. Duplicate the sheet, and then crop out the appropriate level on both sheets.

    • Name the sheets “Level 1 New” and “Level 2 New.”

    • If the captures can’t be easily defined as which is Level 1 and which is Level 2, please edit the capture name to indicate the level.

    • Connect with OpenSpace Support and explain the situation:

      • Depending on the size of this move, we may redirect you to your Account Executive for a data migration request that would fall under our Professional Services.

      • Sample Communication: Hey OpenSpace Support team, on project [insert link] we uploaded a sheet that had both Level 1 and Level 2 on the same sheet and captured it. Can you please split the captures?

Deleting a sheet

  • Deleting a sheet with no data associated is easy as the trash can icon will be available in the lower left corner of the sheet. However, if there is any data associated with the sheet such as 360 captures (videos and/or photos), Field Notes, or Zones the sheet will not be able to be deleted until all data is removed from the sheet. If you want to keep some or all of the data please contact OpenSpace Support to discuss the options available.

FAQ

What if I don’t have a sheet?

Uploading jobsite sheets is what allows the OpenSpace AI magic run so well. However, alternate options could include using a Google Maps image for site plan walks or drawing your floorplan out with a sharpie or software
