Overview
In OpenSpace Track, every task in your task breakdown has components, and each component is assigned a weight that determines how much it contributes to the task’s overall progress percentage.
Component weight
- By default, all tasks are weighted equally toward overall project progress.
- By default, all components within a task are weighted equally.
- Weights can be customized at any time—it’s as simple as changing a number.
- Zero-weight tracking: If you want to track something visually but do not want it to count toward overall progress (e.g., hanger rods already accounted for elsewhere), the component can be assigned a weight of zero. Data is still collected and available.
Recommendation: Consider separating major mechanical equipment (AHUs, chillers, boilers) from terminal devices (trench heaters, chill beams, diffusers) into separate task categories with adjusted weights, to avoid misrepresenting progress.
Example: Suppose a "Plumbing Rough-In" task has three components: hot water piping, cold water piping, and waste piping. By default each counts for 33%. But if hot water piping is a much larger scope on your project, you might adjust the weights to 50%/30%/20%. If waste piping insulation is tracked separately but already accounted for elsewhere, you could set it to 0% weight—the data is still collected, but it does not affect the overall progress percentage.
