Improving image quality: tips for clearer photos
If your images appear blurry or the quality isn’t up to par, don’t worry—there are simple ways to get better results. By following these tips, you’ll achieve clearer, higher-quality images on your jobsite.
All cameras perform best in good lighting conditions. In dimly lit areas or when capturing fast-moving subjects, image quality can decrease. While cameras aren’t quite as advanced as the human eye, jobsites with OSHA-level lighting typically produce clear images in OpenSpace. We can also recommend lighting systems that meet these standards—most modern LED task lighting fits the bill.
If you’re experiencing blurry photos, try these easy fixes:
Use a hardhat light: In small or poorly lit spaces, a hardhat light like the Illumagear can make a big difference.
Adjust your pace: Slowing down or pausing briefly while capturing images can significantly improve clarity.
Update your camera firmware: Ensure your camera is up to date so that it’s operating on optimal code and delivering the best possible image quality.
Rely on our Technology: The OpenSpace platform incorporates advanced computer vision techniques that automatically enhance image quality from the raw video. We’re continually improving these features, so you can expect even better results over time.

Uploading captures: tips on the process
Typically, images are processed and ready to view within 15 minutes after a capture is uploaded. However, connectivity issues and errors may occasionally impact the upload process.
Once a capture is uploaded, and as long as you have not unsubscribed, you will receive two emails:
Capture Uploaded: This email should arrive within seconds to minutes after the capture has successfully uploaded.
Capture Published: This email is sent once the capture has been published to your project. Publication should not take longer than four hours. If it does, please contact the OpenSpace Support team for further assistance.
Reminder, there are a few ways to upload captures:
Firewall issues: tips on using the OpenSpace Sync App
Some companies have firewalls that may block file uploads through the OpenSpace Desktop Sync App. Here are some steps to help ensure your captures are uploaded successfully:
Use alternative upload methods: Try uploading via Mobile or Desktop Sync for Web.
Contact your IT department: Work with your internal IT team to whitelist the OpenSpace Sync App. Common issues that could be affecting the Sync App include:
Anti-malware software on your machine may be blocking the Sync App’s network calls.
The site router might be filtering traffic based on user agents.
The site router could be filtering all traffic to ‘https://www.openspace.ai’.
Provide IT with specific instructions: You can use the following message to request assistance from your IT team:
“Please allow my computer to send data to: https://*.openspace.ai using standard port 443.”
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve firewall-related issues and successfully upload your captures.
